As a guideline: many customers wear Samelin boots half to a full size smaller than their Nike or Adidas size. Every product page includes a size chart with foot lengths in centimeters.

Yes, as with all boots made of thick full-grain leather, breaking them in can take a while — expect anywhere from a few days to a couple of weeks with daily use. After that, the leather shapes itself to your foot and you're left with a shoe that lasts for years. This is normal for genuine leather of this thickness and actually a sign of quality.

All Samelin shoes are covered by the statutory warranty: if you run into a manufacturing or material defect, we'll resolve it. Samelin produces according to the military quality standards NATO AQAP 2110 and ISO 9001 — the same standard that applies to military orders.

Yes. Samelin has made shoes in Tartu, Estonia since 1945, and has produced military boots for various NATO forces since 2017 — including the Norwegian, Latvian and Estonian armies. The best-known is the M77, which is even mentioned on the Wikipedia page about combat boots. Every boot in our collection is made to that same military quality standard.

Full-grain leather is easy to maintain: wipe the boots clean regularly with a damp cloth and treat the leather a few times a year with a full-grain leather care product (leather grease or wax). If you use them a lot in wet weather, treat them more often with a water-repellent product. Well maintained, these boots last for years.

All shoes are made at the Samelin factory in Tartu, Estonia — in Europe, in other words. Samelin has previously produced for, among others, Dr. Martens and Rossignol.
