What you need
- A soft brush (horsehair or similar)
- A damp, clean cloth
- Leather grease or leather wax suitable for full-grain leather
- A water-repellent protector (spray or wax)
- Shoe trees or crumpled newspaper (optional, to keep the shape)
Step 1 — Cleaning
First brush off loose dirt and dust. Then wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth for a fresh, well-kept look. Lukewarm water works best — afterwards let the boots dry at room temperature, so the leather stays optimally supple.
Step 2 — Feeding
Apply a thin layer of leather grease or leather wax with a cloth or brush, in small circular movements. Extra attention to the seams and the toe keeps the leather extra supple there. Let it soak in for 10–15 minutes and buff off the excess with a clean cloth. Repeat this every 4–6 weeks for leather that keeps its shine.
Step 3 — Waterproofing
